Welcome to BylineCV.
I’m Azmir Shah, the founder of BylineCV, and I’m glad you are here.
I created BylineCV because I understand how tiring the job application process can become. Finding the right opportunity already takes time. Then you need to understand the role, tailor your CV, prepare a cover letter, and make sure everything is ready before you apply.
The tools meant to help can sometimes create even more work.
The problem I kept facing

Whenever I applied for a different role, I created another version of my CV.
Each version needed to highlight something different. One employer might be interested in a particular skill, while another might care more about a specific part of my experience.
Tailoring my CV made sense. Managing all those versions did not.
My folder slowly filled with files for different applications:
- CV — for [Company Name]
- CV — Software Engineer
- CV — Analyst Programmer
- CV — Forward Deployed Engineer
- CV — Senior Software Engineer
The names looked organised at first, but the problem became clear whenever I needed to update something. I had to remember which CV contained the latest information, which version I had sent, and whether the same correction had been made across every file.
If I corrected something in one document, I had to make the same correction in several others. If I wanted to reuse a section, I had to search through my files, find the right version, and copy it again.
I was spending too much time managing documents and not enough time preparing for the opportunity itself.
Why I built BylineCV

BylineCV started as a solution to this problem.
I wanted one place where I could keep my CVs and cover letters together, create different versions for different applications, and reuse my information without repeatedly starting from the beginning.
I also wanted the process to feel straightforward.
There are already tools that can help with individual parts of an application. AI tools can help with writing. Word processors and design tools can help arrange information on a page. But I still wanted a workspace that connected everything and helped me stay organised.
That is what I am building with BylineCV.
With BylineCV, you can:
- Create and manage multiple CVs
- Duplicate a CV before tailoring it for another role
- Reuse your existing information
- Create and manage cover letters
- Check how well your CV may work with Applicant Tracking Systems
- Download your documents as Word files or PDFs
The goal is not to make every CV look or sound the same. It is to give you a better place to manage the work while keeping your experience and voice at the centre.
Built to support you, not replace you
AI can be useful when you are unsure how to phrase something or want help improving an early draft. But your CV should still represent your real experience.
BylineCV is not intended to invent qualifications, exaggerate achievements, or turn your application into something that does not sound like you.
It should help you communicate what you have genuinely done more clearly.
You remain in control of what goes into your documents, what you change, and what you eventually send to an employer.
BylineCV is free, and will stay free
Every feature available in BylineCV today—including AI assistance—is free to use, and it will stay free.
During this period, all available features—including AI assistance—are free to use. I am using this time to learn, improve the product, and understand what people genuinely need from it.
AI features come with usage limits so the service stays reliable for everyone. In the future, I may introduce a paid plan with higher AI usage limits and new, advanced features.
Those will be additions, not restrictions. Nothing you can use for free today will move behind a paywall.
I believe access to these essential tools should not depend on another monthly subscription.
This is only the beginning

BylineCV cannot remove all the uncertainty that comes with looking for a job.
What I hope it can do is give you a little more order, reduce repeated work, and help you feel more prepared when the right opportunity appears.
This first post is also the beginning of the BylineCV blog. I will use this space to share practical guidance about CVs, cover letters, job applications, and the lessons I learn while building the platform.
Thank you for being here and for giving BylineCV a try.
If something helps you, confuses you, or feels like it could be better, I would genuinely like to hear from you.
Welcome to BylineCV.
